How many times have you picked up a bottle of wine because you liked the packaging and the price was right...but once you opened it you swore you would never buy it again? We feel your pain. We have created Trace Wines for you. We control everything from the vine to the bottle ensuring you will always receive a great bottle of wine at a great price.

Trace Wines are from northern California.
Our winery is 90 minutes north of Napa in Nice (Lake County) and our vineyards are located just 50 miles east of San Francisco in a new AVA, Tracy Hills (recorded in Dec. 2006). We grow all of our own fruit and produce all of our own wine...in other words, we are not negociants.

Since we own the vineyards and the winery, we control everything from vine to bottle, creating a handcrafted product at an amazing price point. Our wines are made in a boutique style in small lot production. Our largest fermentation tank is only 6,300 gallons and we taste all of our lots and blend them to create our different vintages with a focus on balanced, approachable wines true to their varietal character, letting the fruit do all the talking.

Our Mount Oso Vineyard in Tracy Hills is approximately 330 acres of six different varietals:

195 acres Cabernet Sauvigon
88 acres Syrah/Shiraz
10 acres Merlot
15 acres Zinfandel
10 acres Pinot Grigio
12 acres Chardonnay

The Mount Oso region has the same rainfall as the Mojave Desert and the adjacent foothills steer the storms around the vineyard. The water table is 110 feet deep allowing our vineyard manager to control the amount of water on the vines, stressing them to create small tight berries with amazing flavor.
